Innovative HUD-Funded Housing Solutions
UG Group (formerly 2WR+ Partners) collaborated on this project to create a sustainable and affordable residential community. Located on a sloping triangular site, the development stands out as one of the most successful HUD-funded housing projects in the region. With all units fully occupied, the project demonstrates the effectiveness of strategic design and thoughtful planning. The site includes a clubhouse and thirty 750 sq. ft. one-bedroom units, providing residents with comfortable and accessible living spaces that balance functionality and aesthetics.
Creating a Strong Community Identity
The project’s primary objective was to establish a new identity for the housing community. UG Group achieved this by utilizing cost-effective materials, exposed steel, and bold color schemes to craft a cohesive yet visually dynamic exterior. Additionally, the design incorporated multiple visual tools and conceptual strategies, ensuring a modern yet inviting atmosphere that enhances the community’s overall appeal.
Furthermore, UG Group integrated front porches and balconies throughout the development to encourage outdoor interaction. These features foster stronger social connections among residents while also providing shade during hot summer months, improving both comfort and energy efficiency. By combining intentional architectural choices with sustainable solutions, the development enhances both livability and environmental responsibility.
Functional and Flexible Interior Spaces
The interior layouts were designed with simplicity and adaptability in mind. UG Group developed a streamlined floor plan that allows for easy movement within each unit. Additionally, the generic, adaptable interiors empower residents to personalize their living spaces. This approach not only improves the visual appeal of the community but also fosters a sense of individuality and belonging.
Setting the Standard for Future Housing Solutions
This project highlights how thoughtful design, sustainability, and community engagement can transform affordable housing. By prioritizing both function and aesthetics, UG Group has helped set a new benchmark for future residential developments.
