A Vision for Growth and Community Engagement
Methodist Church projects require careful planning to serve present needs while allowing for future growth. UG Group (formerly 2WR+ Partners) worked with St. Peter’s Methodist Church to develop a phased expansion plan that supports both goals. This plan provides space for the congregation to grow while maintaining a strong architectural identity.
The phased master plan includes an existing sanctuary, a future sanctuary, a family life center, an educational building, a child care center, and a youth center. UG Group collaborated with church leadership to develop building programs that align with the church’s vision. After finalizing these plans, our team moved forward with Phase I, introducing a new sanctuary. Later, this space will transition into a fellowship hall, connecting to the educational building. A larger sanctuary is planned for the southeast corner of the site.
Architectural Design Rooted in Tradition and Flexibility
To create a timeless yet welcoming design, UG Group incorporated regional materials and architectural styles that reflect the area’s character. The exterior features red brick, horizontal ribbed metal panels, storefront glazing, and exposed steel, ensuring durability and aesthetic appeal. Additionally, the narthex, positioned at the south corner, acts as a glass-encased beacon, creating a striking presence at a busy intersection. The north facade, clad in metal panels, allows for future expansion without altering the church’s overall aesthetic.
A Community-Focused Approach to Design
UG Group designed the Phase I Sanctuary to be both functional and adaptable. The space serves as a center for worship, fellowship, and community gatherings. Its flexible layout allows for conversion into a fellowship hall, ensuring that the Methodist Church remains a vital place for spiritual and social connections.
