UG Group (formerly 2WR+ Partners) designed Aaron Cohn Middle School in Midland, creating a sustainable and modern learning space. Our team strategically used the site’s challenging topography to optimize the school’s layout. This approach improved efficiency, supported sustainability, and helped achieve LEED Certification through energy-efficient strategies and natural light optimization.
The design also allows for future expansion. The three-story classroom wing can extend as needed, and additional playing fields can be added without disrupting existing facilities. With modern technology and eco-friendly features, UG Group shaped a high-performance school built for 21st-century learning. Additionally, the design ensures flexibility, allowing the school to adapt to evolving educational needs.
Thoughtful Design for a Middle School in Midland
UG Group collaborated with the Muscogee County School District (MCSD) to create an inspiring, functional, and sustainable school. Key design features include:
- Efficient Classroom Wing – A glass-clad lobby connects the main academic wing to the rest of the school, improving visibility and access.
- Optimized Natural Light – The north-south orientation maximizes daylight, making learning spaces bright and comfortable. Large windows in the cafeteria, art rooms, and technology labs further enhance illumination.
- Sustainable and Local Materials – The exterior features red brick, ribbed metal panels, storefront glass, and exposed steel, reflecting the region’s architectural style.
- Enhanced Energy Efficiency – Smart HVAC systems and LED lighting reduce energy consumption, cutting operational costs over time.
- Modern Technology Integration – Classrooms are equipped with state-of-the-art technology to support interactive learning and digital education.
