A Modern Career Tech High School Built for Flexibility
UG Group (formerly 2WR+ Partners) collaborated with Montgomery Public Schools to design George Washington Carver High School, a state-of-the-art Career Tech high school focused on flexible learning. The school supports multiple teaching approaches, including traditional instruction, cluster-based learning, and hands-on Career Tech education. This adaptable environment enhances both student engagement and faculty collaboration.
A Flexible Learning Environment with Modern Design
The 200,000 sq. ft. facility serves 1,200 students and features a two-story central spine filled with natural light. UG Group designed the layout to maximize connectivity and efficiency, ensuring easy movement between learning spaces.
The school includes three two-story classroom pods, each operating as a school within a school (SWS) cluster. Each cluster accommodates 400 students, with 200 per floor. This structure fosters a sense of community while supporting collaborative and personalized learning.
Innovative Career Tech Spaces for Hands-On Learning
A defining feature of this high school is its emphasis on hands-on learning. UG Group designed specialized Career Tech spaces, including labs, workshops, and collaborative areas. These spaces provide students with real-world skills and prepare them for both college and career pathways.
Enhancing Student Experience with Natural Light and Open Spaces
UG Group prioritized natural light and open spaces to create a welcoming environment. Large windows and open corridors promote well-being and academic success by providing bright, energizing spaces. The two-story spine connects all areas of the school, encouraging interaction and engagement among students and faculty.
A Future-Ready High School for Technical Education
By integrating modern design, adaptable learning spaces, and Career Tech innovation, UG Group delivered a Career Tech high school that meets the evolving needs of students and educators. This forward-thinking facility ensures that George Washington Carver High School remains a leader in technical and career-focused education for years to come.
